I’ve been anticipating a new album from The Horrors for the longest time. Thanks to Jakub’s post on ISO50 I was filled in with the good news. They will be releasing their album Skying on XL on August 9th. After doing a little browsing I stumbled on their music video for Still Life. I was blown away the entire time not being able to take my eyes off the screen. The video is directed by Oliver Murray and reminiscent of Neil Krug’s photography. Between an beautiful array of color and layering of imagery the music and the video are quite cohesive. I might be a bit bold for saying this but I feeling the quality of The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” here. All I know is that this song is definitely going to be one of my favorite songs of the summer.

Got a call earlier from my friend Ian and guess what he was playing in the background? New Radiohead! Completely caught me by surprise. Thank you Jakub for posting the music on ISO50. I’ve been in a design slump lately and this is definitely going to get the creative juices flooding my brain. The video featured above for ‘Lotus Flower’ is one of the singles for the new album The King of Limbs. I didn’t know what to think of it the fist 10 seconds but after watching it all of the way through I couldn’t get enough of it. Thom Yorke you can dance like a maniac all day! We will be posting a review of the new album within the next few days so pay a visit.
In the meanwhile, get over there and buy the new album The King of Limbs.
I don’t know how this video almost slipped past me. I was doing my daily check up on GraphicHug and instantly recognized the artwork Alexander Brown, aka Brownboy, created for James Blakes’ self entitled album. He really did a superb job creating a unique and consistent look across the entire board of the project including the music video for the Wilhelm Scream, photography, and album cover art. Check out more of his work here.
Check out the live performance of ‘The Wilhelm Scream’ and official video for ‘Limit to Your Love’ on my previous post.
Local Sacramento band Sister Crayon’s official music video for (In) Reverse really blew me away. I’ve know that they are talented and have so much potential but I had know idea how fast they are rising to the top. The song is taken from the album “Bellow” coming in June 2010 on Manimal Vinyl Records. Be prepared to see and hear a ton more of them in the near future.
The video was directed by New York photographer/director Robert Ascroft and was produced by Jill Roy at 3Star Productions in January 2010. Song co-produced and engineered by Scott McChane. Make-Up by Maria G. Jones & Celeste Linares.
Check them out on Myspace.
